Puppet shows are great for not only entertainment, but for helping educate children on certain topics as well as showing them how to convey their emotions. Not only this, but puppet shows are something that children can watch, and that they can take part in themselves.
Professional puppets can be rather expensive, but when you take a pair of old socks, some buttons and string, and a black pen, you can spend some quality time with your children and finding out who can make the best puppets! After designing them, they can play with them and put together their own puppet shows to perform for their friends or for their family. So without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best puppet shows across the world that are not only enjoyable for children, but adults too.
Sesame Street
This is by far the most famous puppet show, and more importantly, it’s loved by both children and adults. Children love it because of how it is both educational and witty, and adults love it because of how it gives them Deja Vu of their childhood. The show has thrived since 1969 and a steady flow of new episodes are being produced to this day.
A lot of people recognise this street through phrases such as “The street with the big yellow bird”, or more importantly, they remember Sesame Street through some of the characters that are shown. This show is the home to Elmo, the Cookie Monster, Kermit the Frog, and many more kid’s favourites!

The Muppets
Ever since the original creation of The Muppets in 1955, the characters have featured in many different industries and have made appearances in a variety of different shows. Many of the characters from Sesame Street have carried over to The Muppets family, including Kermit the Frog who is known for his unique nasal voice!
Similar to a few other children shows, The Muppets bring a unique sense of humour to their shows. By this I mean that a lot of their humour is conveyed in a way that children can get a laugh out of it, but only adults will truly understand the joke. A prime example of a show that displays this humour is SpongeBob SquarePants.

Bear in the Big Blue House
While adults may not get as big a kick out of this puppet show as children would, Bear in the Big Blue House is one of the more modern puppet shows which is targeted at pre-schoolers to help them begin their learning process and prepare for school. However, just like The Muppets, there is a hint of the humour that we discussed before. This Puppet Show is owned by the same company that runs the other 2 brands, although there are no shared characters, however there are shared producers.
I feel as though this sense of humour that the include in children’s television shows are important as it gives adults and parents a chance to enjoy a television show that both they and their children enjoy, compared to watching something that only one of them will enjoy.
There are many puppet shows broadcasted on television every single day, it’s just a matter of whether or not you can find one that your child is interested in.
